I just wanted to write a short post to tell you we've made a site upgrade that will allow you to view our site with your iPhone or other smartphone much quicker and easier.  With the help of the WPTouch WordPress plugin, you can now choose to view our site as a normal web page or in a faster to navigate iPhone theme that allows you to see more of the website content on one page.

Moving into and beyond 2010, all the web experts are saying how important it is to have a mobile friendly site.  Sales of iPhones and other smartphones are still blazing and these people want to be able find information and products quickly without feeling like they have to conform to the full website page formula.  They appreciate the efforts of site owners to make their site work better with their lifestyles and not the other way around.

So, fire up your iPhone, Droid, Blackberry or other smartphone and browse our site.  Let me know what you think of the upgrade and any problems you experience with it.

Think of it as an early Christmas present to my readers!

More Than Company Profile And Buying Guides

When we first built this site, our goal was to provide quality information on how to select the right appliance for your kitchen remodeling project.  We wanted to give you guides to help you understand how an appliance could benefit you and help you see if it was right for your particular situation.  We also wanted to make sure that you knew something about the companies featured on this site.  We did a great deal of research and found companies that had long-standing quality records for the products they produced.  Sure, all companies have had products that hit a bump in the road and had problems.  Our goal here was to let you see that any manufacturer we featured also had a record of listening to consumers and fixing those problems.

This Was Not Enough

What visitors were telling us is that they needed more product-level information in the form of reviews.  We heard you and we are responding.

Starting next month, we will be adding a product review section to our site.  It will feature products from the categories and companies which are featured on this site and a few that are not.  We will give the low down on each of the products reviewed including pros, cons and opinion from consumers.  We hope to give you the skinny you need to know before you drop your hard earned money.

We Need Your Help

If you have a product you'd like to see reviewed please send us an email using our contact form and we'll look into it for you.  We'll let you know when we'll be able to have the review done for you.

First Up - Coffee Maker Reviews

We're going to kick off our reviews section with coffee maker reviews.  Keep an eye on your feed reader for the first installment of this series starting early November.

Stainless steel is one of the most resilient materials available on the market today. It's used for a wide range of household and industrial items, including machines. Cleaning stainless steel is important to preserve its chromium finish. Without it, the metal will rust and tarnish.

Watch The Use Of Harsh Cleaners

There are a wide number of methods for cleaning stainless steel. There are also many ways to prevent damage. It's a good idea to remove stains as quickly as possible. Leaving dirt on the finish risks letting it set in making it much tougher to clean.

Although stainless steel is durable, harsh cleaners can damage it by scratching away the chrome. If you're doing routine cleaning, use a gentle detergent like dish soap mixed with warm water. Make sure to dilute the detergent or it can do just as much damage as strong chemicals. If the stainless steel already has tough, hard to remove stains such as burnt food, the best thing to do is to let it soak for a while. Fill up the pan with hot water and then take a dryer fabric softener sheet and drop it in. From here, all you have to do is let it soak until the food comes off on its own. If you've got problems with discolored pots on the other hand, use old or crushed tomatoes and put them in the pot with some water. Let this mixture simmer for about half an hour and then it will clean out effortlessly.

When you're done rinsing, dry them off with a soft towel or cloth to avoid water spots. Just wipe them in the direction of the polish lines so you don't scratch the finish. If you'll be cleaning brushed stainless steel then use baby oil and a paper towel. This will leave it looking just like new.

Cleaning stainless steel with the use of glass cleaner or household ammonia is best reserved for fingerprints. Be sure to rinse them thoroughly though as some of the chemicals may latch onto the material. New types of finishes for stainless steel are thankfully no longer fingerprint magnets. These are better to use especially when you have kids around.

Same Methods Work On Stainless Appliances

These same methods can be used in cleaning stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. Just apply the soapy water solution with a sponge to not damage the surface. When cleaning stainless steel, all you really have to remember are the following: 1) never mix homemade cleaners with commercial cleaners, 2) never use bleach and 3) read the label and follow the instructions if you decide to use anything bought from the store.
